Mackinac Associates is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that supports programs at Mackinac State Historic Parks through membership dues and other gifts. Mackinac Associates has supported needed projects in every area of museum operation, and make possible interpretive programs, publications, exhibits, natural history education, park improvements and more.

The Kids’ Quarters is housed in the Officers’ Stone Quarters within Fort Mackinac and features many hands-on displays and interactive games. As you can imagine, a space this well loved and used, especially by our school groups and other young visitors, receives a lot of wear. The Kids’ Quarters will receive new paint and carpeting and several new interactive exhibits while some of the favorites currently in place will be repaired or updated. Interactive exhibits will allow visitors to explore what life was like at the fort, from the type of clothing residents and soldiers wore and the games that were played to getting up close with the artifacts that represented daily life. You will see a glimpse of the work in 2020 and the completely refreshed area will debut in time for the 2021 season.

We hope you will participate in Giving Tuesday and help us fund the renovation to the Kids’ Quarters at Fort Mackinac. Your support makes history come alive for all of us.
