We are very excited to welcome guests to Fort Mackinac for the 2021 season. The health and safety of our visitors and staff is our primary concern. To ensure that everyone’s experience is enjoyable, all guests and staff must follow the following guidelines when visiting Fort Mackinac:
Cannon Firing Demonstration
Rifle Firing Demonstrations/Parade Ground
Buildings within the fort
Tea Room Restaurant
The Tea Room is operated by Grand Hotel. The set up of the space allows for easy one-way traffic into and out of the restaurant.
In addition to regular, frequent sanitizing of admissions and sales counters, exhibits, and restrooms, we have outlined a more detailed cleaning schedule for Fort Mackinac.
South Sally Port and Avenue of Flags Admission Areas
Members of the guest services staff will be equipped with cleaning supplies at their stations and will regularly sanitize their work station and surrounding area.
Within the fort
Members of the guest services staff and interpretive staff will be equipped with cleaning supplies and will have a regular cleaning schedule within the fort, especially within buildings and the Sutler’s Store. Additionally, a member of the Park Operations janitorial staff is assigned to Fort Mackinac and will rotate through the fort cleaning and sanitizing all areas, with special attention on high-touch areas.
Fort Mackinac’s restrooms are located on the rear of the Soldier’s Barracks. Push plates, door handles, sinks, hand driers, faucets, and toilet handles, among other areas, will be sanitized regularly. Restrooms will be deep cleaned prior to opening, and regularly cleaned throughout the day. Where appropriate doors will be pinned open to limit contact, and all cleaning will be done by park operations janitorial staff.
