SUMMARY:Complimentary Admission to the Mackinac Art Museum
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy complimentary admission to The Richard & Jane Manoogian Mackinac Art Museum June 5 – June 14 as part of the Mackinac Island Lilac Festival! \nABOUT THE MACKINAC ART MUSEUM: \nNowhere else does such a rare and exceptional collection of Mackinac-related art and photography come together to tell Mackinac’s story. \nIn complement to the natural beauty of Mackinac Island\, The Richard & Jane Manoogian Mackinac Art Museum allows visitors to experience fine and decorative arts inspired by Mackinac through the ages. \nOne of the most diverse art museums in the region\, the museum’s collection offers no shortage of beauty and history – from hand-beaded Native American garments and 17th and 18th-century maps of the Great Lakes\, to one-of-a-kind pieces from the height of Mackinac Island’s Victorian era. \nOriginal photographs from the mid-19th to the mid-20th century present the beauty of Mackinac as captured by the camera’s eye. SUMMARY:Discover Sugar Loaf\, a Mackinac National Park: 150 Event
DESCRIPTION:Join naturalist Kyle Bagnall on a guided walk to explore one of Mackinac Island’s oldest and most iconic rock formations. In August 1894\, Major Clarence Bennet issued a warning to guests of Mackinac National Park – anyone found guilty of defacing Sugar Loaf would be expelled from the park! On this two-mile walk\, we’ll explore the geology and celebrity of this famous attraction\, even uncovering evidence of 19th century vandalism. Meet at the Avenue of Flags\, behind Fort Mackinac for an easy walk of about two miles. #thisismackinac
