Photo-based artist Amber Dietz plans to share the history of the wet plate collodion process and its modern uses. In addition, Dietz will demonstrate how to make tintypes and ambrotypes using the wet plate collodion process. This hands-on demonstration will include how to use a large format 8X10 camera, allowing participants to look through the view camera, coat a plate, sensitize the plate, expose the plate, and develop the photograph just like was done in the 19th century. This program will take place in the Station 256 Conference Room, located about the Mackinac Island State Park Visitor’s Center. Admission is free.
