Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse Wedding

Located on the shores of the Straits of Mackinac, and within the shadow of the Mackinac Bridge, Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse in Mackinaw City provides a charming and romantic backdrop to your wedding day. Established in 1889, the lighthouse grounds include three original structures, including the castle-like 1892 lighthouse.

Schedule & Amenities

Your rental includes exclusive use of Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse for up to two consecutive hours for decorating, rehearsal, wedding ceremony, pictures, and clean-up.

Up to 50 wedding chairs are provided and set up an hour before the scheduled start time. Additional chairs available for $2 per chair if your confirmed guest count is larger than 50, two weeks prior to your event.

A Mackinac State Historic Parks representative is available throughout the ceremony. No clergy is provided. You must make arrangements with clergy on your own.

The following dates and times are available for weddings at Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse:

May 1 – June 9, 2017 and September 4 – October 8, 2017
Wedding may begin between the hours of 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. daily.

June 10 – September 3, 2017
Wedding may begin between the hours of 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. daily.

Reservations should be made as soon as possible. They are made on a first come/first paid basis. Payment is required with application to hold the date. You may reserve your date  before sending the application and payment by contacting us at the number below. If you wish to view the lighthouse, please contact us to schedule a visit. These visits can take place between 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Guidelines

— When planning a wedding, keep in mind that the Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse is a historic, original building. Great care must be taken to protect this structure.

— No candles are permitted within the lighthouse due to fire hazard.

— There is no dressing room at the lighthouse.

— There are no restrooms inside the lighthouse or fog signal building. Restrooms are located 100 yards from the lighthouse.

— There are no lights on the grounds of the lighthouse.

— No pew bows, no tape and no tacks of any type may be used to install decorations.

— Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse is not heated or air conditioned.

— No rice, birdseed, or similar material may be scattered inside or around the lighthouse.

— If floral arrangements are part of your wedding décor, flowers may arrive no earlier than 45 minutes prior to ceremony time.

— If you have scheduled musicians they are to arrive no earlier than 45 minutes prior to ceremony time. If you are working with a wedding planner, insure that they are aware of this time frame.

— It is the responsibility of the wedding party to designate an individual to remove flowers, wedding decorations, and other items immediately following the ceremony. Otherwise the items will be removed and discarded by park staff one hour after the wedding. We are unable to store any items before or after the ceremony.

— Parking for your wedding guests must be in the parking lot of the lighthouse. Additional parking is available at the Colonial Michilimackinac Visitor’s Center (located underneath the south end of the Mackinac Bridge approach).

$650 (Friday-Saturday) $500 (Sunday-Thursday)

Refund Policy

 — $200.00 is non-refundable under any circumstances.

 — Cancellation received in writing 61 days or more prior to reserved date – $450.00 refund for Friday-Saturday weddings, $300.00 for Sunday-Thursday weddings.

 — Cancellation received in writing 60-31 days prior to reserved dates – $300.00 refund for Friday-Saturday weddings, $100.00 for Sunday-Thursday weddings.

 — Cancellations 30 days or less prior to reserved date are non-refundable.
