ZIPPING THROUGH THE TREETOPS IS FUN AND AFFORDABLE AT MACKINAC STATE HISTORIC PARKS

April 22, 2009

Mackinaw City, Mich. — Exploring nature from the treetops at Historic Mill Creek Discovery Park is thrilling and affordable! For $7.00 plus admission to the park, take the park naturalist-guided Adventure Tour.  Trek through the treetops on the 165’ long, 50’ high Forest Canopy Bridge, soar over Mill Creek on the 425’ long Eagle’s Flight Zip Line, and then climb to new heights on the 40’ high Nature Trail Climbing Wall.

Historic Mill Creek Discovery Park, part of Mackinac State Historic Parks, added these new elements in 2008 to great success, giving visitors the opportunity to experience adventure while learning about nature—all at affordable prices below national and state averages.  Height and weight restrictions apply.

The park, opening for the season on May 4, offers much more in addition to the popular nature tour.  This historic site also features 1790s-era water-powered sawmill demonstrations, demonstrations on the pit-saw method of lumber production, interactive exhibits, a tower overlooking the spectacular Straits of Mackinac, nature programs, nature trails, many interactive children’s  play and learning centers, an audiovisual program, and a museum store with themed keepsakes and lunch items.

Park admission is $8.00 adults, $4.75 youth (5-17), and children 4 and under free.  Visit mackinacparks.com or call 231-436-4100 for more information.

Mackinac State Historic Parks, governed by the Mackinac Island State Park Commission, is located in northern Michigan’s Straits of Mackinac region.
