Checklist British Landing Nature Area
The British Landing area offers visitors an excellent opportunity to explore and learn about the natural history of Mackinac Island.
This half mile long nature trail meanders through evergreen and hardwood forests, to a beautiful wetland area known as Croghan Water. Hikers on this trail pass a limestone formation named “Friendship Alter,” and climb stairs up a steep bluff formed by the waves of glacial Lake Nipissing.
Numerous trail displays and plant identification signs are located along the British Landing Nature Trail.
