IT and Technology Intern Department: Finance and Accounting Location: Mackinaw City Start Date/ End Date: Early May – Early August (12 weeks) Pay Rate: Unpaid ($1,000 stipend upon successful completion of internship). This position does not preclude accepting other paid positions, providing this position is the first priority. Hours: 32 hours per week Now accepting applications for the 2018 season Scope of Duties: Ideal candidate will assist the Chief of Finance and Accounting in supporting the IT and Technology needs of the staff at all of the historic sites within Mackinac State Historic Parks (MSHP). Duties will include learning and supporting the computers and technology for the stores sales and admissions to all the park locations; handling routine technology support questions, printer issues, etc; documenting the complete inventory of computers and peripherals throughout the organization; document (flowchart) the configuration of the complex network of State of Michigan computers with an independent network; assisting with investigating, documenting and implementing new phone system. Based on the individual’s interests and skills, the intern will also have opportunities to participate with other facets of the business. Work Location: The workstation for this position is the Administration Office in Mackinaw City with travel to all MSHP historic sites, including Mackinac Island. Essential functions of this position require indoor and outdoor work. Essential Functions of this Position: Learn and provide technology support for Point of Sale computers for stores and site admissions at all MSHP locations. Handle routine staff requests for technology questions such as printer issues, etc. Document the complete inventory of computers and peripherals and other technology throughout the entire organization Document (flowchart) the configuration of the complex network of State of Michigan computers with an independent network Assist with investigating, documenting and implementing new phone system Always act in a professional manner and keep information that is learned as confidential Position Requirements: Must be 18 years or older as of start date of employment IT, Network and/or Business background Must be available from early May through early August, some flexibility on dates Must have good attention to detail; flexibility; helpful attitude and willingness to contact various support lines for help Ability to work independently, as well as in team Physical Requirements: The employee must have the ability to do the following activities, with or without reasonable accommodation: frequent lifting, carrying, transporting, loading and unloading of up to 35 pounds, walking long distances and up steep inclines in all weather conditions, frequent twisting, bending, stooping, reaching and grasping, and sitting and/or standing for long periods of time. Supervision: This position does not supervise other employees. The employee works under the direction of the Chief of Finance and Accounting. Housing: MSHP will offer free housing in Mackinaw City, if needed, to the selected individual in return for 32 hours per week of internship duties. Housing is dormitory-style with kitchen facilities available. Schedule: This position will generally work 12 weeks starting in early May working through early August, with some flexibility in schedule, and is scheduled to work 32 hours per week (approximately four days per week). The intern may be required to work evenings, holidays and/or weekends.
